
The two Presidents of Mozambique and Namibia expect to strengthen economic diplomacy between the two nation with plans to create a joint economic commission, President Daniel Chapo said yesterday Monday.
Mozambique officials said, the two statesmen revealed the importance of forming a joint economic commission to assess the opportunities in both countries with a view to improving economic cooperation.
Mozambique President ,Daniel Chapo during a presser in Maputo after a meeting with his Namibian counterpart, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa called for the need to have partnership within the private sectors.
“We have come to the conclusion that we need to strengthen economic diplomacy between the two countries so that the private sector in Mozambique and Namibia can further strengthen our relations of friendship and cooperation.
“We have come to the conclusion that we must take action. We have already talked, we have already written, so we must take action and, therefore, we are going to organise a business forum between the two countries, involving the private sector," he said
Namibian President Ndemupelila Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa ,reiterated the importance of a joint struggle for the financial independence of the two countries.
“From a political point of view, Namibia and Mozambique are at their best in terms of cooperation. But today, here and now.
"We need to do the same with economic independence, with the economic struggle," Ndaitwah added.
However the stateswoman say by July, Mozambique and Namibia should have clear directions on the steps to be taken for economic cooperation with the mission of the joint commission set to assess the different sectors, including energy, trade, transport, mineral resources, agriculture and tourism.
