Zimbabwe Republic Police ( ZRP) confirm receiving two reports of theft of ZESA electricity transformers, which occurred in the Mutenderende area in the ZRP Charandura policing area, Chirmhanzu.
The thefts were discovered on 6 June 2025 at about 0600 hours.
The reports were made by Faith Chademana, a female, (34) concerning a transformer located about 30 meters from her homestead and Lonkina Dzoro (73) of Dzoro Village Chief Hama for the second one.
They were both removed from their respective poles and vandalised, leaving some pieces of metal scattered under the 'H' poles.
Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, has since called for concerted efforts from everyone to fight this scourge of theft and vandalism affecting public infrastructure.
"Such behaviours retards development and also affects livelihoods," he said.
