
Gokwe- Mavis Sibanda a 33 year old woman who is a vendor in the Gokwe CBD was arraigned at the Gokwe Magistrates' court facing a charge of assault.
She was convicted and sentenced to 24 months' imprisonment, The Daily Press has learnt. On May 26 2025, at 1000hrs, at Sai Mart Supermarket in Gokwe CBD, the offender assaulted a 10-year-old Grade 5 student.
The offender called the victim over to her market stall and then requested the victim's right forefinger, grabbed it, inserted a needle and drew a blood sample, which she placed on an HIV testing kit.
After the incident, the victim was left crying when she met two men who asked her why she was crying. Upon explaining what had taken place, the two men escorted the victim to her place of residence, where they told the victim's father what had transpired.
A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of Sibanda.
