Pastor in court for aggravated indecent assault

A Zvishavane-based pastor has been arraigned before the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court facing charges of aggravated indecent assault.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) the incident happened on the 11th of August this year.

The pastor, whose name has been withheld, visited a relative in Redcliff and was offered the same room to sleep with the 18-year-old male victim.

It is alleged that the victim woke up to find himself being caressed by the man of the cloth.

When the victim enquired about the pastor’s actions, the pastor allegedly replied that the victim was too handsome, adding that his lack of a beard made him feel like he was in bed with a woman.

The accused person is alleged to have forcibly removed the victim’s shorts and threatened to shoot him with a gun if he screamed or told anyone.

He then allegedly forced the victim to lie on his stomach and sexually assaulted him three times.

After the third assault, the accused person allegedly told the victim to perform a sexual act on him.

The accused person left the victim’s home in the morning. The victim disclosed his ordeal to his aunt on the same day, leading to the matter being reported to the police.

The accused was remanded in custody and will be back in court for trial on August 27.
