Shurugwi man stabbed to death over plate of sadza.

Police in Midlands have confirmed the arrest of a 19-year-old Shurugwi man folowing the murder of his fellow friend (an artisanal miner) over a plate of sadza.

Midlands Province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko,said the incident occurred on May 9, 2025, at around 11 pm at Dollar Farm in Shurugwi.

"As the police we appeal to the members of the public to respect human life and avoid unnecessary disputes." Mahoko said 

Circumstances are that the suspect, Nicholas Matanda of Village Mazivise under Chief Nhema, stabbed Tanaka Sithole (26) of Village Musapingura under Chief Musikavanhu in Chipinge, during a dispute over the sharing of sadza.

Matanda withdrew an Okapi knife and stabbed Sithole in the armpit before fleeing the scene

Sithole was rushed to Gweru Provincial Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on May 11, 2025 at around 4 am.

Meanhwile Matanda was arrested and he is expected to appear in court for trial
